Now more than ever, it is important that we support our neighborhoods and
help those in need in our community. A little can go a long way when
we all work together to give a helping hand to the less fortunate who have
been adversely affected by the downturn in our economy.
Blue Element Salon is participating in the Toys for Tots Drive and is
co-sponsoring a Toys for Tots fundraising event at Sol in the Central West
End again this year. Bring a new, unwrapped toy with you when you come
in for your next service and know that you will bring a smile to a little
one's face who may not have received a gift this year otherwise.
As the
holiday season approaches, it reminds us of how fortunate some of us have
been this year and how many families are in need of even the basic
necessities such as food due to the economic downturn. Area food banks
are experiencing critically low levels of food supply due to a spike in
demand from those in need. You can help by donating either your time
or non-perishable goods to Operation Food
Search, a St. Louis food bank that distributes food free of charge
helping to feed the poor and hungry.
Operation Food Search distributes more than 1.5 million pounds of perishable
and non-perishable food and household items to 250 food pantries and soup
kitchens who offer emergency hunger-relief to nearly 100,000 poor people
every single month. Nearly half the recipients are children.
There are lots of other opportunities for you to make a difference as well.

Many of these community organizations would welcome any support you could
make, either financial or by volunteering your time.
